Laudamus

Chamber Choir

bass representative

Dan Hayes

Dan has been a member of Laudamus Choirs since it became a youth choir in 2007 and now sings in the choir’s two to a part group. In 2008 Dan successfully auditioned for the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain, and began to sing Bass in the training choir.
Through Laudamus’ education programme he was given the opportunity to learn the skills required to conduct a choir, and conducted the Kyrie from Bob Chilcott’s “A Little Jazz Mass”. Following on from this experience Dan set up a Chamber Choir at Winstanley College, whilst completing his A level studies in biology, music and chemistry.
Dan has given many solos during choir concerts and has been invited to perform at small fundraisers around the North West as well as at many college concerts and at the 2011 Wigan Borough Duke of Edinburgh Award presentation evening.
In 2011 Dan began work at Winstanley College, where he continues to run the choir and also provides support to the teaching staff during composition and harmony classes. Dan has also begun to run rehearsals for local high schools’ productions, such as Grease at Our Lady Queen of Peace Skelmersdale. He has also begun to attend the Wigan Borough Youth Choir, helping to lead the Bass section and also conducting some of the choir’s repertoire.
In the future Dan hopes to complete an ABRSM diploma in instrumental and vocal teaching and begin to study Italian, French and German, whilst auditioning for Music college to continue his studies in 2012.
