Matthew has been a member of Laudamus since 2008 and has gone on to sing in the vocal ensemble and become part of the administration team.
Matthew began singing in youth organisations in his local area, becoming the lead vocalist of the Wigan Youth Jazz Orchestra at the age of 16 and continued this position for 3 years. In that time he toured northern Spain with the band and recorded on a successful album.
In 2007, Matthew successfully auditioned for the main choir of the National Youth Choir of Great Britain, with which he has performed in some of the country’s most prestigious venues including the Royal Albert Hall, as well as touring the west coast of America with renowned choral composer Eric Whitacre.
Through his choral training, Matthew has worked with some of the world’s leading experts in choral and classical music, performing in a number of BBC Prom series concerts, most recently with Gramophone magazine’s ‘Artist of the Year’ Gustavo Dudamel. Matthew has also recorded on two of Karl Jenkins’ recent works on the EMI Classics label.
After completing his business degree, Matthew now works as a vocal tutor for Wigan ITP music service, teaching individuals vocal technique, theory and leading the male section of the Wigan Youth Choirs.
Matthew also works as a freelance musician and has recently become a member of the Manchester Consort. Through the consort Matthew has performed in professional concerts all over the country and was invited on the UK tour with Manchester based band, James.
Matthew continues to work towards a career as a professional soloist in classical and operatic singing.
